The Kent girls varsity field hockey team had an exceptionally exciting game on Saturday, November 5th, with an 8-0 win against Westover.

From the very first touch the entire team was on fire. “The girls did a terrific job possessing the ball,” said Head Coach Duncan. The first goal was scored by senior and captain Juju Tardif ‘17 who chipped one in with an assist from Tina Paolillo ‘17. After Julia Nearis ‘18 put in the second goal from a penalty, senior Meredith Dorman ‘17 scored from an assist from Tardif. Ahead then 3-0, sophomores and roommates Cec Ehrhard ‘19 and Kiersten Goode ‘19 scored a goal each.

Two minutes into the second half, and up 5-0, senior Abby Swartz ‘17 scored, meaning that every single senior had scored, on their home field, for their senior game.“It was pretty special to have all four senior field players score on their senior day,” said Duncan.

It was also an important day for senior and captain Anne-So Rioux ‘17 who brought her season total shutouts to 12 in keeping Westover scoreless. At the end of the game, she was able to take the field as her teammates tried to get her the ball so she could score.

“You win some you lose some,” said Swartz, “but we’re proud to be 14 and 1.” The girls head to Loomis this Saturday to compete against our school rival and we wish them luck.
