JV Profile: Boys Tennis

It has been a wonderful season so far for the Kent boys JV tennis team. On April 29th, 2015, the boys continued to live up to Head Coach Mauri’s high expectations, dominating Trinity Pawling with a sweeping victory 7-0.

Kent got an early head start as Zane Hassoun ’16 grabbed a crushing 8-0 victory at No. 6 spot. Shortly after, Dhyey Meta ’17 followed with a definite 8-3 win at No. 3 position. The Lions’ JV No. 1, new addition Richard Douglas ’17 crushed his opponent 8-1. The focus then transitioned to court 3 as the Lions looked for one more win to secure the match. Captain William Chen ’15 was on his game and did not let Kent down. He served NINE, securing Kent’s victory with an 8-2 win at No. 2 position. Jack Ellis ’18, No. 5 spot and Satchel Clendenin ’16 No. 4 spot followed with two wins for Kent with the score of 8-1 and 8-6 respectively.

The Kent boys enjoyed their effortless wins and were eager to step on the courts for the doubles matches. Grant Sundstrom ’15 and Ellis grabbed an easy 8-0 victory at the doubles No. 3 spot. No. 2 doubles Meta and Chen had a 8-3 win, and Alex Patyako ’18 and Douglas concluded the match with an 8-5 victory.

It was a delightful day for Head Coach Mauri and the JV boys, as the squad maintained its record of 3-1. After the win, Captain Chen said, “We were uncontested and we look forward to these performances the rest of the season.” Coach Mauri mentioned, “We have a much stronger team compared to last year. I look forward to a great season with this well-balanced team.”
