Boys lacrosse preps for the Big Tilt

Nelson Thomas, Squad Reporter

The Kent Lacrosse team took their annual trip to the sunshine state during spring break. It was a productive one, and Mike Guerin ’16 believes they “matched up well” against the competition they saw during spring training. The team had time to mesh together, staying close to the Disney’s downtown area. Captain Myles Smith ’15 had a lot of nice things to say about his teammates: “everyone was working on the same page, picking each other up when they were down, good time for everyone to get better.”

The Lions are excited about this upcoming season, led by Smith and his co-captains Brooks Young ’15 and Stewart Stockdale ’15. The Kent roster has grown substantially from last year, a reflection of the excitement that surrounds the 2015 Lions. John Gnan ’15 joined the squad after trading in his oar and uni for a vanadium shaft and a pair of cleats. Peter Hargrave ’15, Josiah Wilson ’16, and Emory Leiber ’15 are all exciting additions and are expected to give a strong boost on both the defensive and offensive sides of the ball. PG Scotty Morgan is going to be the man to win many face-offs for this years team that believes in his abilities wholeheartedly.

The Lions look forward to competing against perennially competitive Founders League division opponents Taft, Westminster, and Avon, all teams they took loses to last season. Young is eager for the challenge, saying that there are “going to be a lot of good battles this season.”
