Kent Boys Varsity Lacrosse is demonstrating rapid growth and improvement in the 2026 season. Although the team’s current record does not yet fully reflect its goals, the team and coaches are progressing in the right direction and have laid a strong foundation for future development.
Many players on the team expressed that the boys varsity lacrosse team has had a “bright and hopeful” start to the season. Under the leadership of Coach Mok, Coach Fogel, and Coach Clarke, the most important goal for this team is to rebuild the overall competitiveness and team culture. Although the team is still developing, everyone is satisfied with the improvements made this season.
One of the team’s biggest improvements this season has come on the offensive end. With the additions of players like Baron M. ’28 and Joey A. ’28, along with the return of veteran team member Hayden S. ’27, the team’s offensive line has clearly become more efficient. Whether in terms of finishing ability or tactical execution, the team has made significant progress compared to the past. Greater roster depth has also enabled the team to maintain a higher level of competitiveness throughout the entire match.
Beyond skill growth, the players believe that the most significant change in the team this year is the overall atmosphere and mindset. Internally, the players have raised their expectations of one another. Opponents that were once considered formidable are now viewed with greater confidence, and the team has not lost hope in defeating them. The players attribute this transformation largely to the addition of new players, as well as the team’s enhanced cohesion.
Kevin Luo described this year’s team atmosphere as “both competitive and highly cohesive.” During training, the players hold each other accountable while also offering support and encouragement. Team leaders David J. ’26 and Trey L. ’26 were also specifically highlighted for the pivotal roles they play in upholding the team culture and inspiring their teammates.
Although rebuilding a team takes time, the Kent Boys Lacrosse team maintains ambitious goals. As the season begins, the team aims not only to make progress in the present but also to gradually build a truly formidable program. The team has stated that, in the coming years, it aspires to establish Kent Lacrosse as one of the top 20 high school lacrosse programs in the nation.
Although the rebuilding process is still underway, this season has already revealed many positive changes. Whether it be improved team chemistry, a more efficient offense, or a gradually growing sense of confidence, everything points to the Kent Boys Varsity Lacrosse team moving, step by step, toward a brighter future.
