On April 12, 2026, Kent School girls varsity lacrosse beat a strong team—Canterbury. This is not only a simple victory, but also a historic moment—the first time they have beaten them in at least 10 years. This win not only reflected the high level of the current team, but also demonstrated individual and team growth, cooperation, and perseverance throughout the season.
Before the game, the whole team was “locked in.” One of the players, Mackenzie Clifford ’26, said everyone already knew this would be an intense and challenging battle. The opponent was powerful, so the goal of the team was to try their best to use rapid passing and tight running to break through the opponent’s defense. The players hoped to keep a clear mindset about their strategy, to not get affected by the pressure, and to use their best energy in the game.
Throughout the game, Kent School demonstrated their strong mentality. The point difference was consistently under two, and the two teams scored alternately; even at the end, the two teams were “trading blows.” Under these circumstances, the Kent School team held their poise, trusted each other, and followed the plan.
This victory is meaningful for the team and has boosted their confidence. Mackenzie said that in future games, the team will continue to improve their strategy and adjust their offense and defense plans as the game changes. Besides, they also want to keep the high energy in future games, because this is the key to their success.
Through consistent practice, adjustment, and stable teamwork, the Kent School girls varsity lacrosse team is stepping to another level and laying an important foundation for future games.
