Connor Garrahy ‘20, a member of Kent’s football team since his 3rd form year, is currently the captain of the varsity football team. He is a talented starter on offense and defense, playing center and defensive end.

After a difficult season last year, Garrahy hopes to lead the team to success this season. Excited to guide his teammates towards a victorious fall term, Garrahy stated that one of his goals is “to reach one of the bowl games at the end of the season.”

With a brand new year in mind, all of the football players will rely on him and fellow co-captain Chris Guttman ‘19 for guidance. For Garrahy, this means upholding the role of a leader and setting a positive example both on and off the field. With a lot of underclassmen on the team this year, Garrahy mentions that his priority is to “make sure the young kids know what they’re doing.” He elaborates on his mindset, explaining how “sometimes they need tough love, especially in a violent sport like football.”

Although the Varsity Football team lost their season opener against Suffield, Garrahy hopes to lead their team towards future triumphs. With football preseason having started on August 29th, most members have had the opportunity to get to know each other and form a close bond.

Garrahy states that he is “very proud of the team, and how far we’ve come from the start of this year.” The team has games against Avon Old Farms and Brunswick coming up, and Garrahy looks forward to pumping up the team’s spirits and dominating the playing field.
