Boys Lacrosse Beats Millbrook

Last year, Kent boys varsity lacrosse had a rough season, picking up only two wins throughout the spring term. This season, though starting off with two disheartening losses, seems to be on a upward trend as the boys defeated Millbrook in a decisive game on April 11th.

The game started with the team down 3-0, but with contributions from Michael Buttelman ’18, Holden Ellard ’19 and Ian Hartwell ’20, the boys rallied back to win 6-5. Buttelman scored 3 goals, Ellard scored 2 goals, and Ian Hartwell made a lot of key saves as the goalie.

The captain of the team, Robbie Lane ’18, thought this was the first game the team really clicked after a slow start to the season. He attributed a good part of their success to taking more shots and the hard work from everyone on the team, from the players to the coaches to the managers.

Lane felt the team had improved by coming together in their hardship. The lacrosse team members practice three hours every day and even miss dinner some days; Lane believes that it brought together the team and allowed them to rally when they were down.

With this exciting victory, the boys are working hard to improve their techniques and lift up the team spirit with the hopes that they can continue the trend in future games.
