It’s Spring!

Alex Choi

After putting Kent through a grueling winter season, New England has rewarded us with a warm spring season. And with its arrival, the spring has brought a slew of non-frigid activities.

First and foremost, now that the snow has melted, the fields are open for business. Students can throw frisbees and footballs around or just bask in the sunlight whilst avoiding getting frostbite. On the weekends, Mr. Austin and Mr. Valitutto will be hosting Ultimate Frisbee matches out on Club Fields. And, when the heat becomes unbearable, the creek is perfect for a quick dip. A note of caution,: the creek does not warm up nearly as much as the weather does.

Spring is also a great time for hiking. Some good hikes include taking the cross country trail onto river road and then to the skiff mountain trail or going straight up the Appalachian Trail to Algo.

And if hiking isn’t your cup of tea, fishing is also an option. Some renowned fishing spots are Case Point, up river road, or up Macedonia Brook. And if you’re a novice fisherman, you will soon be able to join the fishing club, which will meet on Saturday afternoons and is still being put together by Evan Sahinovic and Peter Fahey.

The sandbox has also restored its popularity this spring. With Blue Key hosting food and fires and hopefully lawn games (hint hint), the sandbox is sure to remain a hotspot this spring.
