Kent’s Boys Varsity Soccer has started the season with energy, confidence, and a powerful sense of unity, thanks in part to big wins against Salisbury and Deerfield.
Coach Booth described the 12-0 victory over Salisbury as “precise and positive,” noting that the win gave the team valuable momentum early in the season. “We were very precise in our scoring,” as Coach Booth commented. “And it was lovely that a lot of the guys played a lot of minutes. Even our reserve players came on and played very well.”
While the excitement from the Salisbury match may have “given the team a little too much confidence,” according to the coaches, the following game against Deerfield proved Kent’s resilience. “Going up 3-0 and then conceding three in a row, many teams would have put their heads down,” Coach Booth said. “But our boys battled and won 5-3. We were very proud of their character and togetherness.”
That sense of togetherness has become the defining spirit of this season. When asked about the team culture, Coach Robey summed it up all in one word: “Love.”
Coach Robey also added, “Our theme this year is sacrifice and suffering for your teammates. Who’s willing to suffer and sacrifice for the better good of the team? So far, they’ve taken to that very well.”
The coaches also announced that senior Marcus Neil has been added as the team’s third captain, joining Charles Paquin and Eli Booth in leading the team.
Looking ahead, the team remains focused and fearless. “We’re not nervous for anybody,” Coach Booth said proudly. “The boys are confident, and we’re very excited about our next challenge— South Kent.”
“The biggest opponent is always the next opponent.”
With their strong chemistry, determined leadership, and contagious energy, the Boys Varsity Soccer team is proving that Kent’s season will be one to watch and remember.
