Tonight at 7:30 PM, the curtains will rise on Kent School’s much-anticipated Spring Dance Show, a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and powerful storytelling through movement. Among the standout pieces is 16 Shots, choreographed and performed originally by senior Amy Hwang during her freshman year. Now revived with fellow original dancer Janet Wu ’25, the piece holds deep personal meaning for Amy. “Recreating it felt incredibly energizing,” she shared. “It brought back so many memories, but also allowed me to connect with new dancers and discover their individual strengths.”
The show also features a range of compelling solos and group performances, including a much-talked-about solo by Jenna, whose experimental movement and fluid floorwork have left peers in awe. “Her piece feels like a dramatic love confession on a breezy day,” dancer Adriana Malik ’27 described.
For many, the highlight of the show isn’t just the choreography—it’s the camaraderie. “The people are the highlight,” Malik emphasized, a sentiment echoed throughout the cast. Jenna Janiak-Anderson expressed gratitude for a space where people step out of their comfort zones, supported by what she calls “amazing people.”
Whether you’ve seen some of these dances before or are coming in fresh, tonight’s performance promises a memorable experience filled with passion, emotion, and the vibrant spirit of Kent’s dance community.
