While finishing with a challenging record of 0–17, the Kent School Varsity Lacrosse team ended the season eager to start the next one. Coach Mok sees this season as a fundamental step toward long-term success. As a new addition to the program, Mr. Mok emphasizes a team culture focused on resilience, commitment, and growth over wins and losses.
“Our core values were juice, discipline, grit, and teamwork. Measuring ourselves against those values every day, I would say we were successful. That aimed us in a positive direction in terms of the team’s atmosphere,” said Mr. Mok.
Despite facing some of the most competitive lacrosse teams in the nation, our players showed resilience. “We were outmatched in a lot of our games, and yet our guys never stopped. They never gave up,” said Mr. Mok. “They never lost that feeling that we’re in this together.”
He also highlighted the performance of our goalies, Varen Aggarwal and Trey Lalonde. Looking ahead, Mr. Mok says the team’s biggest achievement this year was building a stable foundation, highlighting core values over the record and on-field performance.
It is undoubtedly difficult to maintain a positive attitude when competing against top-tier lacrosse teams, but Mr. Mok praised the players for doing exactly that. “We were outmatched in a lot of our games, and yet our guys never stopped. They never gave up. They never lost that feeling that we’re in this together.”
Moving forward, with more experienced players joining the team in the coming years, Varsity Lacrosse hopes to improve its record while continuing to foster a positive and supportive team environment.
