Dymond Johnson, one of the Senior Prefect for the school year 2023-2024, has been at Kent all four years. She is originally from Hobe Sound, Florida, and when asked about how her background has influenced her at Kent, she says “my background has taught me the independence that I have to this day (and) being able to get where I’m going because I have always had to try.”
Prior to Kent, Dymond went to a junior boarding school in Salisbury, Connecticut, but she says that “Kent gave me the opportunities so that people could see the person I really am.” Dymond truly believes that Kent has changed her for the better, and says that her favorite thing about Kent is the relationships she has built with people here.
In her role of Senior Prefect, she represents not only the Senior Council but the entire school. She is also on duty in Case Dorm, heads all-school meetings, and sends the famous all-school emails providing the campus with important information.
When asked what her favorite thing about being Senior Prefect is, she earnestly says “being able to bring my ideas to the table, and help people knowing they are actually hearing me.” Her goal this year as SP is to “put myself out there more, and show people I am capable of doing not only better for myself but for them.” She also says that she thinks the Kent community can grow by “being open to new ideas and giving everyone the chance they deserve.”
Aside from her integral role as Senior Prefect, Dymond also plays Varsity Softball, leads SOBHU, and is involved in a variety of campus initiatives. Her biggest piece of advice for Kent students is “don’t be afraid to be yourself, keep it real not only with those out there but you too!”
