Last Sunday, the spectacular students of AS Fashion Design, along with their models, delivered an amazing show by modeling all of their creations completed throughout the school year. In total, there were five students that took AS Fashion Design this current year: Finnoula Collins ‘23, Hudson Small ‘23, Natalia Pastoukhova ‘24, Amy Jirakulaporn ‘24, and Serena Lowy ‘24, all of whom particpated iin the Show.
Amy’s designs were striking for the audience; the combination of colors and textures left the public speechless. She used different types of textiles in order to create different shapes. Her star dress — which was awarded by the Scholastic Art and Writing awards — was a pink dress offering many light contrasts depending on the position you were sitting. You were able to observe the dress on one side and appreciate a color that was not possible on another perspective. All her works have a common factor: impeccable sewing that will not leave anyone indifferent, simplicity and structure.
Natalia’s works of art were also quite original. She chose the best five out of eight pieces of her collection. Her inspiration for her creations came from the use of recycled materials, such as plastic bags and scrap paper. In total, she offered five different types of clothing, four modeled by women, the other by a man. The variety of her clothing portrayed her as a designer: without limits, and truly original. The design modeled by Brendan Morrisey ‘24 used two pieces of clothing: a white shirt, and black jeans. The white shirt was decorated with the drawing of the statue of liberty and bright tones of red on the sides, whilst the black jeans had fine prints and striking drawings that looked fabulous on the model. With this piece she closed her successful collection.
