Varsity Softball Working to Rebuild

Michael Zhang, Campus News Reporter

Varsity softball is off to a rocky 0-3 start, but the girls’ skills are making progress. This year is a rebuilding phase for the team, with more than half the team being new players or freshman. There is a lot of room for improvement, since many of the players without a lot of softball experience carry natural athleticism.

The team is eager to improve with the help of their coach, bringing them closer to future success. All of the new players are trying to understand the game and better their skills. The last game this varsity softball team played, though, was an unfortunate 0-20 loss.

While the girls has not had the best luck so far this season, the team has a lot of positives to be highlighted. The team’s atmosphere has been very cheerful despite their start to the season, which speaks volumes about the character of the girls on this team. Alice Zhao proudly claims, “We are the nicest varsity team on campus.”

Looking forward in their schedule, there is a game on April 18th versus Millbrook and a game against Hotchkiss on April 25th. On May 2nd, the girls, with their hard work, have a great chance of winning against Choate, which would be a great turnaround to the season.
