Staff Profile: Mrs. Schmidt-Sabia of the Athletics Office
January 21, 2017
After-school activities are a pivotal part of being a Kent student. But when you’re caught up in the moment, acting out a dramatic scene or playing a heated game of soccer, it’s easy to forget about the people who work tirelessly to make all of this possible. One of these hardworking people is Mrs. Anne Schmidt-Sabia, otherwise known as “the lady who sends us e-mails about the game schedule.”
Schmidt-Sabia’s impressive list of duties at Kent does not end with sending e-mails. She is in charge of all activity registrations, arranging transportation for away games, and paying for referees.
Whenever Schmidt-Sabia isn’t working, she spends time with her family. She loves going on cruises and traveling with family members when she gets the chance. With her wedding at school this past summer to go from Ms. Schmidt to Mrs. Schmidt-Sabia and her new rescue puppy, Jagger, her family has grown in the past year.
Even with a family at home, Schmidt-Sabia finds her extended family at Kent. “I consider all you guys here my kids. I always tell the kids if they need someone to talk to, my door’s always open,” she says. During her nine years at Kent, Schmidt-Sabia has had a large impact in the Kent community, and she will continue to be an important figure in Kent students’ lives. So stop by the athletics office to say hi to her. After all, how many people you know can say that they are a mom to 500+ kids?
