Team Profile: Girls JV Ice Hockey
January 30, 2016
The JV girls hockey team is known for having great team camaraderie amongst the players and the coaches. On and off the ice, the team is constantly seen having a good time together.
As a JV team, one of the main goals is to try to offer a spot for any girl interested in playing the sport. For years, this team has succeeded in doing so, often enlisting far beyond the required numbers. This year however, with the varsity team being so competitive, a trickle down effect has placed a significant amount of talent on the JV team. Games this year for both the JV and varsity girls hockey teams will be very exciting to watch.
Head coach Jesse Klingebiel says, “At least six of our girls any other year would not only have made the varsity team, but would have been major contributing factors to the team’s production.” He continued, “This year the selection for our varsity team was highly competitive and our JV team certainly benefited from the experienced players who were unable to make the varsity team.”
There is a wide range of skill on the JV team that allows less experienced players the ability to learn from the players who have been playing for several years. This will certainly be an exciting year for the JV girls; many skills will be developed and improved throughout the year and the learning curves will be tremendous.
Mr. Klingebiel also said, “Every year our team manages to have a good time and having the ability to win this year just makes it even more fun.”
