This past Saturday, January 17th, girls varsity hockey, currently undefeated, dominated at Kent’s home rink against Lawrenceville in an aggressive 4-0 game.

Every minute was filled with strategy and enthusiasm. The first period itself showed the girls’ extreme skill. Within just the first 10 minutes of the period, number 19, fourth-former Keely Moy, scored the first goal of the game for Kent School.

Less than a minute later, third-former Tina Paolillo, number 17, slipped past Lawrenceville’s defense for the second goal of the day.

While Lawrenceville was trying to bounce back from Kent’s impressive offense, junior goalie Alyson Baldwin saved two difficult shots, giving the puck back to Kent.

In the beginning of the second period, Senior Kiyona Cox, number 25, scored on a penalty kill, boosting the score to an impressive 3-0.

Early in the third quarter, the game was stopped due to an injury from impact on number 22 on Lawrenceville’s team. After a few minutes of examination on the ice, she was escorted out of the rink, luckily suffering no major damage.

Later on in the period, victory almost sure for the Lions, Cox scored yet another goal, the final goal of the day. This sealed in the win for the undefeated girls varsity hockey team at 4-0.

While Assistant Coach Mrs. Rousseau hopes the girls will improve on “consistency and battling through every play,” the girls are confident that “every game is a good game.”
