Mrs. Brown-Butler has called North home for the past three years, living together with her husband, Mr. Butler. She loves the vibrant dorm culture and students that make North special, which makes the inconveniences due to the dorm’s physical layout worth it. Whenever she eats in town, KPG is undoubtedly her top choice. Her most cherished memory of North Dorm is watching the students she admitted to Kent while working in the Admissions Office head off to university at the Senior Night Graduation party. Beyond North, her favorite Kent tradition is undoubtedly the ring ceremony.
In his very first year at North Dorm and Kent School, Mr. McMillan is enjoying the freedom of living alone. He admits that the occasional morning music can be bothersome, but the most enjoyable part of living in North Dorm is the stunning river view. When he is on duty, he loves chatting with students about sports and hearing about their day. As a new teacher, he deeply respects and appreciates the responsibility and effort of the SC members, especially those in the dorms.
Visual Arts teacher Mrs. Summers is now entering her second year in North dorm, living together with her husband Mr. Summers, their daughter Amelia, and their cats. For Mrs. Summers, the best part of living in North Dorm is developing a bond with the boys and learning about their families and hobbies. However, she notes that the environment can be loud at times and wishes that the dorm had a more central common room. Wilson is the family’s favorite place in town. When it comes to school events, she especially looks forward to Lessons and Carols before winter break.
As the head coach of the boys’ varsity cross country team, Mr. Ronyane really enjoys Kent School’s Rock Day tradition. It is also one of the team-building activities for the boys’ cross-country team. He and his wife, Mrs. Hobbie, have lived in North for the past four years. Although the sports gear left in the hallway can be a nuisance, he absolutely loves the incredible views of the Housatonic River, especially in the fall when the cross-country team runs by. When reflecting on his favorite dorm experience, similar to Mrs. Brown-Butler, the annual graduation party stands out the most.
