With great scenic views right out the window, Case Dorm is a lively and close community led by a wonderful group of dorm parents. From walks with dogs to late-night duty shifts, each dorm parent brings their own personality and traditions to the Case experience. CASE DORM BEST DORM!
Ms Robbins has lived in Case for four years with her dog, Benjy the Potato. Her favorite part of the dorm life is the proximity to the mail center and dining hall. Though she also jokingly admits the non-functioning AC in student rooms isn’t her favorite feature, she absolutely treasures duty nights with Ms. Zimmerman!
Favorite Restaurant: Kingsley Tavern
Favorite Tradition: Lessons & Carols
Ms. Main, one of the newest members of the Case dorm parent group, has lived here for just three months with Mr. Kirkup and their kittens, Iggy and Bug. She loves getting to know students outside the classroom and found Student Move-In Day to be her favorite Case memory so far. The only downside? The commotion in the hallways during study hall!
Favorite Restaurant: KPG
Favorite Tradition: Kent’s Performing Arts events (concerts, musicals, and dance
shows)
Mr. Southworth, who has lived in Case for a little over three years now with Mrs. Southworth, appreciates how close the dorm is to the dining hall as well as the beautiful view of the Housatonic River. Because he works in Admissions, Case Dorm gives him a special opportunity to connect with students outside the classroom. His favorite memory is the first form meeting of each year, when he meets both new and returning residents. Out of all the things, perhaps the only small issue is that he’d love to add more personal touches to his apartment, but can’t do much since it’s school-provided housing.
Favorite Restaurant: Kingsley Tavern
→ Fun Fact: Kingsley Tavern is owned by Kent alum Anna Gowan ‘95, who went to Kent
during the same time with Mr. Southworth!
Favorite Tradition: Tapping and Rock Day, which he recalls fondly from his own time as
a Kent student.
Ms. Kurish is in her fifth year living in Case with her son, Khaled. For her, the best part about dorm life is the people— students and colleagues alike. The only challenge? The occasional late-night noises when Khaled is asleep! She cherishes and enjoys her everyday conversations with the students.
Favorite Restaurant: Shanghai
Favorite Tradition: Yearbook!
Ms. Presti, also in her fifth year living in Case, has shared her apartment with her daughter Marra Elsesser, her host-daughter Negah Royan, and her dog Tyreseus. She loves the breathtaking view of Mount Algo and the Housatonic River out of her apartment windows. While she enjoys the Student Council dances, she admits that the music can literally shake her apartment! Her favorite Case memories are when students decorate the common room for different celebrations, especially Lunar New Year and Christmas.
Favorite Restaurant: Swyft (goat cheese and butternut squash pizza)
Favorite Tradition: Concerts, theater performances, and dance shows!
