It has been an exciting season so far for the Kent girls varsity soccer team. Everyone is certain to experience the positivity and enthusiasm that the players emit both during their games and practices.

Despite taking a loss against Millbrook on October 3rd, the team has shown improvement from their previous season by succeeding in a game a week and a half earlier against Ethel Walker, a school they lost to last year.

The three captains, Stella Klingebiel ’19, Sarah Gavin ’19, and Julia DiNapoli ’19, comment that their focus is to “put all our effort out for this year so that it’ll really help bring success for the season.”

While the new season has brought an influx of starters that are mainly freshman and sophomore players, Coach Klingebiel comments on how the team is “a wonderful group of new girls that are adding tremendous energy and positive attitudes.” He hopes that they “will hopefully set the groundwork for this year’s success as well as the future’s success.” Additionally, he states that the captains are “doing a nice job of building a really positive team dynamic” and the returning and new girls are connecting well.

The girls are scheduled to play upcoming games against Kingswood-Oxford, Miss Porter’s, Hotchkiss, Taft, Choate, and Loomis. The team is especially excited to play against Kingswood-Oxford. Gavin remarks, “That’s always a huge game because it’s always competitive and fun.”

Both before and after a game, the team constantly exhibits an overflow of support and positivity. The spirit of camaraderie shared between the girls is always heartwarming and fulfilling to watch, and they are clearly prepared to work hard for the rest of the season.
