On Saturday, April 21st, the boys varsity baseball team played against Loomis Chaffee School on the G. Foster Sanford ‘23 Field at Kent School.

Once the game began, Loomis scored two runs at the top of the first inning. During the second inning, a Loomis player stole second and third base, but the ball flew out too left to close the inning. Near the bottom of the inning, the fourth, fifth, and sixth batters from Loomis came in to deliver. Unfortunately, Kent did not score in the second inning. At the beginning of the third inning, a Loomis baserunner was caught stealing second. The highlight of the game would be in the fourth inning, when Cesar (CJ) Brito Trinidad ‘19 made a home run and brought the score to 1-5. Although Kent lost 1-9, their spirit and inspiring team dynamic is predicted to yield positive results for the rest of the season.

Coach Green describes the varsity baseball team as one “beyond his wildest dreams” due to their embodiment of true spirit, grit, ability, and dedication. Coach Green, Coach Beck, Coach Bennett, and team captain Tom Holley ‘18 all bring a positive attitude to the team, energizing and supporting the members. Green is confident in the team’s ability to beat Avon Old Farms on the April 25th. The boys are hungry for a victory.
