Girls JV Hockey is off to an amazing start “having one of our better seasons” according to Senior Captain Lindsay Moller. The team is undefeated through 5 games so far this season, with a record of 4-0-1.

On January 18, Kent played Hotchkiss away, and ended after overtime with a 5-5 tie. The scoring was back and forth the entire game, with Kent going up by a point, followed by Hotchkiss responding. Coach Klingebiel said that this was “the first game that we kept getting pushed” and it was a “really good test for the team.” Most of Kent’s games this season have been blowouts, and this was a nice challenge for the team. Moller said Hotchkiss was “the first really good team that we played, but we went hard.”

The team is off to a great start with a bunch of great attitudes. Moller and her co-captains Abby Schwartz and Juju Tardif  “just bring a great attitude everyday, and that trickles down across the board to the rest of the team,” said Coach Klingebiel.

This season Moller, a 3-year team member, has played a key role in goal for Kent. Coach Klingebiel said that she “has just been a rock, she’s so solid and so positive.” Juju Tardif also came down from varsity this season and has “helped out all the new kids” according to teammate Moller. Juju is also leading the team in goals, making a big difference on the ice.

The team has a large mix of experienced girls, and girls just learning how to skate. Coach Klingebiel said that the team often “splits into two groups so the beginners can just get going, get up to speed, and know what they’re doing, whereas the more experienced groups can just battle against each other, and they’ve been really good about battling.”

Girls JV Hockey looks to continue their undefeated season this Saturday at home against Berkshire. Moller has high hopes for this season; she “thinks we are gonna do really well!”
