Choral Group Crescendo Performs in Mattison

On Sunday, April 2, Kent School’s Mattison Auditorium hosted Crescendo, a very prestigious choral group that also does some orchestral pieces. The performance lasted around 3 hours and featured 9 fantastic pieces with a mix of a capella and orchestral music with singing, many of which were variations on popular music.

This performance was made possible by previous performers of the Crescendo group who recommended Kent as a place to perform. The performance by Crescendo was not, however, a one-off for the music department at Kent but rather proof of of an ongoing effort by the Kent music department to reach out to off-campus groups and collaborate.

As Dr. Bouldin from the music department says, “Kent is always looking for people to cooperate with, it is all about the give and take.” The give-and-take is very important, as we can both offer a lot, between our fantastic facilities and talented students, and also provide our students with the opportunity to watch high level performances and gain valuable experience.

Kent also has partnerships with other groups, including a summer camp being hosted here over the summer. The music department also has ties with the SEEK program, lending to creativity and helping to develop the program, and this summer a local dance school will use Mattison for their annual show, providing us with further opportunities to enhance our creative relationships with the community at large.
