Girls Squash having a ball

It might not be the team you’d expect, but one winter team is having a ball. With only eight girls, the Kent girls varsity squash team is already a cohesive and unified family. Practicing between one and two hours each day, the girls and Coach Anderson have built both a strong work ethic and strong relationships with one another on and off the squash courts.

Each girl helps one another by cheering their teammates after their own match or by giving little pointers here and there. Everyone aims to not only become better squash players, but also better people while helping those around them to improve.

Captain Pann Boonbaichaiyapruck ’16 always motivates others around her to do their best and to have fun while doing it. With endless treats and goodies, Boonbaichaiyapruck definitely supplies much of the team spirit (and almost all of the sugar, too).

At the same time, Coach Anderson, always an optimistic coach, is loved by the whole team for her kindness and honesty. Although the girls had two tough losses recently (against Taft 1-7 and Westover 0-8), Anderson remains excited going into the next matches, stating, “This season’s girls are truly a team like no other. The energy and love from one another in the team is unlike any other team I have ever coached.”

Anderson and Boonbaichaiyapruck strongly believe in hard work and dedication no matter the number of points won in a game. Despite their losses, the girls will continue to push themselves to be the best they can be.
