‘Learn How To Swim’ program helps Lions get in the water

This spring marks the second year that Kent School is offering ‘Learn How To Swim’ as an afternoon activity. Mrs. Julie Zurolo, girls varsity swimming coach and coordinator of this program, believes that the ability to swim is an important life skill that allows students to enjoy beaches and pools to a greater extent.

“Initially, some beginners are not comfortable in water,” says Mrs. Zurolo, “especially in a deep area.” However, by the end of the season, she had the joy of witnessing exceptional levels of improvement among her students, who swim full laps without apprehension or fear.

The course also offers students who can already swim the opportunity to improve their technique and efficiency in water. Lien Dao’16, one of last year members, joined the program again to better her swimming skills. By the end of the previous season, she swam a 20-lap set without stopping: a truly remarkable accomplishment!

For those who do not know how to swim or even those who are not yet strong swimmers, don’t be embarrassed. Take on ‘Learn How To Swim,’ available during both the Spring and Fall terms. You will not be disappointed!
