On Wednesday, April 29, the Kent Lacrosse program picked up their second win of the year against the Taft Lions, demonstrating great teamwork, moving the ball quickly and getting it to the open man. This was a huge win for Kent as they have struggled through the first part of the season, dropping seven of their first eight games.

Through the early portion of the game Kent struggled, giving up four quick goals to Taft’s offense. However, Kent showed great resiliency, battling back, taking the lead, and beating Taft of a final score 12-10. Kyle Delmaestro ’16 had an outstanding game, leading Kent’s offense with 4 goals. Josiah Wilson ’16 came up with a pair impressive scores as well. Charles DiSimone ’16 had 2 goals along Tim Giuggio ’16 who put in a skillful shot past the goalkeeper adding to the total. Mike Guerin ’16 had a hat trick on the day highlighted by an incredible alley-oop score courtesy of Brooks Young ’15, putting an exclamation point on the game.

The Kent team seemed reinvigorated after the strong win on Wednesday and are poised for a turnaround. Delmaestro said, “We fought on ground balls, got shots on net and really controlled the pace of the game it really helped us and our confidence is pretty high right now.”

Team leader Josiah Wilson looks forward to some “good eats and good sleep” this week before they take on their next Founders League opponent Salisbury on Saturday.
