New at the admissions office and first floor of North Dorm is Mr. Jonathan Bennett. He is also a new varsity boys hockey and junior varsity baseball coach (his two favorite sports). Before finding his way to Kent, Mr. Bennett used to work at All American Prospects, Bay State Games, and the Trinity College Annual Fund. And his song of the summer was “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” by Jake Owen.

Ms. Abby Cacho, with her experience as a research assistant at Zebra Strategies and a stage manager at The Vagina Monologues, offers her expertise at Kent’s Academic Resource Center. She is also a faculty supervisor for the frisbee activity, the thirds hockey game timer, swim assistant, and a dorm parent of Borsdorff second floor. She will also be teaching English this fall and winter. Her song of the summer is “The Weekend” by SZA.

Formerly the Co-Director of Admissions at South Kent as well as an AP Economics teacher, Mr. Dillon Duncan joined the Kent admissions team. While he is not coaching yet, his favorite sport is ice hockey. Mr. Duncan is also a dorm parent of Hoerle Hall second floor, and his song of the summer was “Chase You Down” by Runaground.

Mr. Bill Hamlett is a new French teacher and Middle Dorm South second floor dorm parent. He also helps students get fit in Fitness, coaches the varsity boys basketball team, and works as a theater tech. He does all of these while jamming out to his song of the summer: “Awaiting for You All” by George Harrison. Before arriving at Kent, he was in France in the Academie de Versailles, Lycee Guy de Maupassant, and Academie de Grenoble.

Ms. Alexa Merriam, whose song of the summer is the one that comes spontaneously to her as she’s swimming through life (and Tori Amos’ 15th album), is helping Dr. Greene teach the new Wellness class. She is also a junior varsity softball coach, a new dorm parent of third floor Borsdorff, and a poetry enthusiast.

Bringing his experience from Darlington School, Blair Academy, and Teach for America, Mr. Hans Doerr joins the Kent History department this year. He is also a dorm parent of third floor Borsdorff, a boy’s crew coach, and a fitness supervisor. Mr. Doerr’s song of the summer is “Hope the High Road” by Jason Isbell.

Ms. Hannah Gousse brings her years of work in the field of Biology and Ecology to Kent’s science department. Beyond her love of these subjects, she loves being involved in Model UN, playing soccer, basketball, ultimate frisbee, and listening to “Summer” by the Croquet Club. Ms. Gousse also assistant-coaches girls varsity soccer, oversees Senior Sports, and is a dorm parent in second floor North.

Hailing from St. Lawrence University, Ms. McKayla Nuffer joins Kent’s math department. She is also the varsity girls basketball coach as well as dorm parent of North first floor.  Her songs of the summer were “There’s Nothing Holding Me Back” by Shawn Mendes and “Heartbreak” by Lady Antebellum.

Mr. Ryan Tolfree is a new math teacher, with years of teaching under his belt. He brings his love of running to being one of the varsity boys cross country coaches. He is also a varsity girls basketball coach and dorm parent of Borsdorff ground floor, and his song of the summer is “Here’s to Now” by Ugly Casanova.
