Environmental Club busy this Spring

The Kent School Environmental Club has kept busy these past few months. As in past years, Kent participated in the inter-school Green Cup Challenge. We did particularly well this year, decreasing our total energy usage by 12%.

Most recently, Kent students were planning on attending the Climate Change Rally in New Milford on April 29th. The rally in New Milford is a sister march to the main Climate Change March occurring in Washington D.C. According to Mr. Klingebiel, the faculty advisor for the Environmental club, “there are about a half dozen students looking to go” to the rally.

With only a month left in school, the Environmental Club still has a few items on its agenda. The weekend following the Climate Change rally, students will be going on a trip to Mount View Farm in Kent, which is the home to bee hives. Mr. Klingebiel explained that the Environmental Club is “partnering with the Beekeeping Club to help raise a few hives of bees” at the farm, which is sure to be exciting for those participating.
