On October 26, 10 boys from Radley College, in Abingdon, UK, came to the Kent School as a part of their USA tour. Radley brought four coaches to the US along with 8 rowers and 2 coxswains. Radley College Boat Club entered two fours at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, where they placed their ‘A’ entry in first place, with a time of 18:04.6 and their ‘B’ entry in 22nd.

Radley College Boat Club trained out of KSBC twice a day for three days in their preparation for their second regatta, the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia, the following weekend. Kent School and Radley had friendly competition and raced on the river, giving both teams a chance to get some racing in between the two nations. Will A’Brassard, a senior at Radley, commented “the experience was worth every bit. I really want to go to the US for college and racing here was a blast.”

The following week, Kent hosted eight Radley students as part of an exchange program that has been a long standing tradition between the two schools. Later this year, members of Kent’s Bellringing Society will join Radley students in England as a reciprocation of the exchange program. Otto Bodycombe, an exchange student who came for the second week, says he’s “excited to meet the students from Kent and show them around the college, but (he’s) not sure they will like it more than Kent.”  The experience is sure to be a great learning opportunity between the two schools and hopefully this relationship can continue in years to come.
